PRIVATE RESIDENCE

RENOVATION

BUCA-İZMİR-TURKEY

One of the most special and cherished projects for me is the meticulous restoration process of historical artifacts. This historical house, where I accumulated fond memories throughout my childhood and youth, holds a distinct significance due to our close familial relationship with the homeowners. Known as the "Blackler Mansion" this artifact has found its place in archives and, in my eyes, has gained value as a whole entity, encompassing not only the house itself but also its natural and captivating garden.

The initiation of a process wherein the homeowner seeks the assistance of a professional like myself for the maintenance of the house was met with great enthusiasm. Throughout this journey, our priority was to restore the original structure of the house without compromising its authenticity, paying homage to its history and preserving its historical fabric. As an architect familiar with the house, it was my responsibility to meticulously oversee each stage, examining old photographs from family archives and adhering faithfully to the original details.

This restoration, carried out with utmost fidelity to the spirit of the original structure and without introducing alterations, aimed to rejuvenate the historical beauty through a modern perspective. Drawing inspiration from old images and documents, we worked meticulously at every step to revive the historical features of the house in a true-to-original manner.

In conclusion, the restoration of historical artifacts is not just about reshaping buildings; it's about safeguarding the essence of the past while paving the way for the future. This project, for me, is not merely a professional experience but also an embodiment of the responsibility to preserve heritage and transmit it to future generations. This unique process, where history and art converge, requires careful stewardship and respect at every stage, ensuring it is handed down to the future with great care and consideration.
